Concrete piles are supporting or hanging piles, often used for multi-storey residential buildings or industrial buildings with large loads. Reinforced concrete piles have a durable structure that can resist the erosion of chemicals dissolved in the water below the foundation. The size of concrete piles depends on calculation requirements, the cross section can be square or triangular, from 6 - 20m long and more. Reinforced concrete piles can be pressed to match the transport vehicle and the pile driving machine. Transport and press concrete piles only when the pile has reached sufficient strength, avoiding chipping and collisions between the pile and other objects. So why yes? pressing concrete piles?
Why must reinforced concrete piles be pressed?
Le Thy concrete pile yard
* Precast reinforced concrete piles are the most widely used type of pile in deep foundations that bear large horizontal forces.
* Piles are made of reinforced concrete usually M>200, pile length can be from 5 to 25m, sometimes up to 45m, length of cast pile depends on construction conditions (fabrication equipment, installation, transportation). transfer...) and related to the load-bearing section.
Scope of application of pile pressing reinforced concrete
Pile reinforced concrete It has very high durability and is able to withstand large loads transmitted from the structure, so it is often widely used in foundations of civil and industrial projects.
Some typical cross-sections of concrete piles
Pile cross section: There are many types of reinforced concrete piles with different cross-sections such as round, square, rectangular, triangular, T-shaped...
1/ Square section piles are used the most because they have a simple structure and can be created right at the construction site. The horizontal size of this type of pile is usually 20×20; 25×25; 30×30; 35×35; 40×40
2/ Piles with a cross section of 20×20 to 30×30 cm and a length of less than 10m
3/ Pile with cross section 30×30 40×40 cm and length > 10m
For piles, the cross-section is usually limited to the following table
Section size (cm) 20 25 30 35 Maximum length (m) 5 12 15 18
Characteristics and requirements of concrete piles
1/ Concrete piles are made of precast reinforced concrete (can be at the factory or at the construction site) and use driving equipment, or pressed into the ground. Concrete grade for pile manufacturing is 250 or more.
2/ Common types of concrete piles usually have a square cross-section, with dimensions of about 200×200 to 400×400. Pile length and cross-section also depend on the design. If the length of the pile is too large, the pile can be divided into many short pile segments to facilitate fabrication and to be suitable for transport equipment and pile lowering equipment.
3/ Piles must be manufactured according to design, ensuring a protective layer thickness (minimum 3cm) to prevent peeling when driving piles and prevent rust for future reinforcement.
4/ The pile casting site must be flat, not rough.
5/ The pile mold must be straight and flat and needs to be lubricated to prevent sticking, to avoid causing cement dehydration when pouring concrete.
6/ Pour concrete continuously from the tip to the top of the pile, compact the concrete with a small-sized tamper. During the pile casting process, it is necessary to mark the pile and clearly state its history to avoid confusion during construction.
Place steel pile body
Section A1) Steel Density: Piles driven by hammer are not smaller than 0.8%, pressed piles are not smaller than 0.5%, pressed piles with small and long pile bodies should not be smaller than 0.8%.In the following cases, the steel density must be increased to 1%-2%:– The pile tip must penetrate a certain thickness of solid soil;– The length ratio of the diameter L/D of the pile is greater than 60;– Piles are arranged thickly over a large distance. When L/D is greater than or equal to 80, the bearing capacity of a single pile is very large but the number of piles under the platform is very small or there is only 1 pile, then the steel density must be increased.
Section A2) Diameter and number of bars
The longitudinal reinforcement diameter must not be less than 14mm. When the pile width or diameter is greater than 350mm, the number of bars must not be less than 8.
Section A3) In the following cases, additional steel should be placed
– When using 1-2 piles and single rows of piles, if there is an eccentric load, additional steel must be placed at the top of the pile body.
– When the pile body only places steel according to the pile crane stress, additional steel must be placed in the crane hook area.
Concrete pile body
The concrete strength of the pile body must not be lower than C30. The thickness of the longitudinal reinforcement protection layer must not be less than 30mm.
Joints of concrete piles
The number of pile connectors should not exceed 2. When there is a difficult-to-penetrate soil layer over 3m thick in the shallow layer, the connector must be arranged below that layer.
Glue joints can be used in cases where it is expected that the pile will easily penetrate the soil.
When the design load is large, the pile is small and long, and must penetrate hard soil of a certain thickness; In earthquake areas or places with many piles, the welding method should be used.
